In a world in which the commercialization of luxury goods through online stores and second-hand shops has become more and more frequent, it is necessary to develop tools that allow designers, consumers and authorities to identify and fight the growing market of piracy and look-alikes.

To this regard, Entrupy developed and patented a technology which allows the authentication of handbags. But how does it work?

Entrupy is formed by 4 different patents and has a complex system which detects algorithms that allow the analysis of several material ranging from canvas and leather to metal and wood; the Entrupy device, takes microscopic photographs of different areas of an item and runs them through a computer that uses proprietary algorithms.

The accuracy of Entrupy reaches up to 96% and some of the trademarks that can be authenticated with this gadget are Balenciaga, Burberry, Coach, Chanel, Dior, Fendi, Gucci, Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Prada, amongst much others.

If Entrupy certifies the authenticity of the handbag in question, the company issues a Certificate of authenticity, which allows the buyer of the handbag to make sure that the buyer is acquiring the real thing and not a really good look-alike.

This technology is currently used in hundreds of second-hand shops and has gained the confidence of pawnshops, retailers and online shops which makes their invention a lucrative creation and a great gadget to fight piracy.

In accordance with OCDE the commercialization of look-alikes represents 2.5% of the commerce at global level and Mexico has the sixth place in piracy which makes it part of the “Priority List of Surveillance” alongside with India, China and Russia, reason why, Entrupy can be a useful gadget in the battle against piracy in Mexico.
